Growing Pecans In Oklahoma
Walker Ranch pecans are all grown on the family ranch in Miami, Oklahoma. We care for the trees, harvest the nuts, clean, shell, and bag by hand, especially for you. Our pecans have a crisp, buttery texture and a sweet, nutty taste. Enjoy them as a healthy snack or bake them into your favorite dessert.

Pecans are available during harvest season, from October through January, depending on the weather. Buy pecans by the bag full and crack them yourself or get them cracked, clean, and ready to eat.
How To Store Pecans
Proper storage of pecans preserves the quality and maintains the natural flavor and aroma of the nuts. Pecans should be stored in airtight containers, such as sealed plastic bags, at low temperatures to extend storage life.
Storage at room temperature is not recommended because the pecan’s high healthy oil content will begin to degrade fairly soon.
- Best storage: Freeze in sealed plastic bags to avoid the pecans’ absorbing odors from other foods. Properly packaged and stored at freezing temperatures (0 degrees Celsius; 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below), both shelled and in-shelled pecans will both maintain their freshness for two years or more. Frozen in-shell pecans will remain edible for two additional years.
- Good storage: Refrigerate in sealed plastic bags to avoid absorbing odors from other foods. Refrigerated at a temperature of 4 degrees C; 40 degrees F, properly packaged shelled pecans will stay fresh for approximately six months. In-shell pecans will be fresh for 9-12 months.
Pecans can be thawed and re-frozen without loss of quality.
